Introduction to Logic Pro

• Students will be introduced to the layout of Logic Pro.
• Students will work through a mini-task this week of re-arranging and mixing a pre-recorded sounds cape in Logic Pro.

3 Pre-Production

• Students to continue planning audio production.
• Practical tutorial on operating microphones and basic recording techniques using edirol field recorder.

Discuss specific conventions associated with the audio production genres that students will be working within (view ‘Australia’ sound recording video podcasts)

4 Production

• Explanation of sound levels and importance of recording a clean audio signal.
• Importance of recording ambient sound.
• Students to begin capture of sounds for their audio projects.

5 Production and Post Production

• Students will learn how to import sounds and arrange using Logic Pro.
• Introduction to Logic Pro plug in’s and their specific function (basics of EQ/reverb/delay effects)

Audio Post-Production

• Discussion of audio levels and digital clipping issues (concept of headroom explained)
• Mastering and bouncing down final mixes to appropriate formats for studio and web use.

Exporting Audio

• Students will complete an intensive unit this week on exporting audio for a variety of purposes.
• Explanation of lossless and lossy audio compression.
• Finished projects exported and linke dto web portfolio.

• This week students will work on updating web portfolios.
• Reminder of file structure rquirements and expectations of web portfolio (and practical assessment purposes).

• Students encouraged to create two versions of their web portfolio (one for class and one for potential employers).
