Here is an example of a plan you could use. Did you include all these steps? Perhaps you included some additional ones.
- Check that the device has been assigned a drive letter.
- Insert a CD and ensure that you can do a directory listing. (Depending on your operating system and the CD, the CD might auto-run.)
- From you directory listing, check that you can open a file.
- If your system has a sound card, insert an audio CD and ensure that you can play the audio file. This checks that you have correctly connected the audio signal cable between the CD writer and your sound card.
- Use the CD burning software to create a new CD.
